"Beautiful"
By Christina Aguilera
Every day is so wonderful
Then suddenly it's hard to breathe.
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain, I'm so ashamed.
I am beautiful no matter what they say.
Words can't bring me down.
I am beautiful in every single way.
Yes, words can't bring me down... Oh no.
So don't you bring me down today.
To all your friends you're delirious,
So consumed in all your doom.
Trying hard to fill the emptiness.
The pieces gone, left the puzzle undone.
is that the way it is?
You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down....oh no
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down, oh, no
So don't you bring me down today...
No matter what we do
(no matter what we do)
No matter what we say
(no matter what we say)
We're the song inside the tune
Full of beautiful mistakes
And everywhere we go
(and everywhere we go)
The sun will always shine
(the sun will always, always shine)
And tomorrow we might wake on the other side
We are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes, words won't bring us down, no, no
We are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring us down, oh, no
So don't you bring me down today
Oh, yeah, don't you bring me down today, yeah, ooh
Don't you bring me down ooh... today
The song above, Beautiful by Christina Aguilera was written for the audience to embrace and love who they really are and feel comfortable in their own skin. While writing this song, Christina thought back to her childhood when she was bashed for expressing her individuality through her clothing, make-up, and hair.
THIS I BELIEVE
I believe that the key to a happy and fulfilling life is to accept yourself for who you truly are. We live in a world where our thoughts of ourself can be altered by peoples opinions, the way social media portrays everything, and our ever changing society. Its unfortunate that these simple things can change what we think about ourselves and try to change just to impress. Instead why can't we look in the mirror and be happy for the true gifts that we were blessed with.
When I entered the middle school, I was constantly rocking the tom boy apparel as well as the attitude. I wore my hair in a low pony-tail, with capris, and a t-shirt while I looked around to see sixth grade girls with straightened hair pinned to their faces, skinny jeans, ugg boots, and a hollister or abercrombie shirt. I would receive the glance from all the prissy girls, who all looked identical. As weeks went on, I would go home and realize I need to fit in so I have to change what I wear and my attitude to fit in with the popular group. I thought about this deeply and indeed changed my wardrobe to fit in with the cloned sixth grade girls who accepted me in their circle but I wasn't necessarily happy with how I was dressing or the girls that were in this group.
As years went by I realized that I didn't need to fit in with the popular crowd by wearing what everyone else insisted on wearing, I could be equally as happy wearing and acting what I am comfortable and happy with. It has helped me immensely in the long run because I can accept the real me and I am 100% real and can express myself any way possible.
